MATSUURA SEICHA

Shizuoka Prefecture is located in the center of Japan and renowned as the best tea production region in Japan. MATSUURA SEICHA is headquartered in “Mori-machi”, a mountainous area in the upper reaches of the Ota River in western Shizuoka Prefecture. The wind that flows through the tea plantation protects the sprouts from frost and the morning mist that bubbles up from the clear stream gives life to the tea leaves. The clear spring air, warm sunshine, and moderate temperature difference between day and night. The favorable growing environment of Mori-machi nurtures the superior taste and aroma that only premium teas can offer. MATSUURA SEICHA, founded in such a town of Mori-machi, has been pursuing “genuine tea production” to satisfy customers since its establishment in 1941. Working together with sincere farmers who continue to work tirelessly, we aim to produce tea that is made with care, so that people say with a smile, “This is delicious tea”.

Shizuoka Prefecture, famous for Mount Fuji, is located on the main island of Japan and is one of the major production regions of green tea, which is highly regarded both in Japan and overseas. Blessed with a rich natural environment and mild climate, tea has been actively cultivated in this region since ancient times. Tea plantations spread over hills surrounded by beautiful mountains and fertile plains. This topography and climate ideal for tea cultivation, nurture high-quality tea with a unique flavor and aroma. Shizuoka tea is produced under strict quality control and traditional production methods, and the skills of the craftsmen who spare no effort shine through. New technologies have been introduced to meet diversifying needs and a wide variety of teas are produced.

Mori-machi, located in western Shizuoka Prefecture, is one of Japan’s leading tea production regions. The entire town is surrounded by tea plantations and is a scenic area. The rich nature and mild climate of Mori-machi are very suitable for tea cultivation. The high quality of Mori-machi tea, backed by history and tradition, is highly regarded throughout Japan. In Mori-machi, the foggy highlands where tea grows slowly produce tea with a particularly mild sweetness, richness, and distinctive aroma.
